Stewardship Program

The Cascade Land Conservancy (CLC) owns approximately 8,000 acres in fee and holds easements on an additional 5,700 acres.  This acreage represents over 90 properties throughout Washington State, and includes diverse lands such as estuaries, wetlands, community open spaces, timberlands, and even a mountain peak.

CLC’s Stewardship Program manages all properties to fulfill or exceed current Land Trust Alliance Standards, and to maximize ecological function to contribute to the region’s biodiversity and sustainability.

Each property requires consistent and regular monitoring, followed by active maintenance or management to assure that no human health and safety issues exist, there are no encroachments, and the conservation values of the land remain protected forever.

The backbone of the Stewardship Program is the volunteer effort of the CLC Community Trustees.  Currently, CLC has Trustee Groups in King, Pierce, Snohomish and Kittitas Counties.  Each Trustee Group creates an Annual Plan which includes Stewardship Goals.  Many Trustees serve as volunteer Land Stewards, organizing and staffing Volunteer Events, and providing long-term advocacy for each of our properties.
